The
Upper Arlington Education Association
unequivocally and emphatically endorses Nancy
Drees for re-election to the Board of Education.
Nancy
Drees stands out for key reasons: Her previous
experience on the Board proves that she is an
ally of public education. She believes in creating
partnerships between teachers, the administration,
and the Board. She supported teachers in contract
negotiations and pledges to do so again. She has
experience working with administration to accomplish
results: she was directly involved in the 1-to-1
initiative and the Teaching and Learning committee.
She has gone to our state government to lobby
for more equitable funding for public education.
She has publicly supported every levy.
In
short, Mrs. Drees is an essential ally of public
education on the Board and should be reelected
this fall.

ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY

| I’m
thrilled to announce that I am officially running
for re-election for the Upper Arlington School Board.
For the past eight years, I have had the honor and
privilege to serve on the board through some of
the district’s toughest challenges – from
revitalizing the crumbling infrastructure to navigating
our schools through investments and new technology.
During
this time, I’ve worked incredibly closely
with my dear friends, the late Robin Comfort and
Stacey Royer who has decided not to run again.
They have both had a lasting impact on the board
and I’d like to continue their legacy by
serving another term.
Upper
Arlington education holds a special place in my
heart. I have committed entirely to the well-being
of our students and our community. With your support
and vote in November, I will continue to lead
our schools to be the best that they can be.

This Week, 11-4-15: |

Upper
Arlington voters gave a big thumbs-up to incumbents
Robin Comfort, Nancy Drees and Stacey Royer
on Nov. 3, re-electing them to serve four more
years on the Upper Arlington Board of Education.
Comfort
sought a third term and Drees and Royer both were
seeking their second four-year terms, running
against newcomer challengers Mindy Lambert and
Christopher Swartz.
Final
unofficial returns from the Franklin County Board
of Elections at 12:45 p.m. Nov. 4, showed Drees
getting the most votes, at 7,281, with Comfort
close behind at 7,239. Royer received 6,541 votes,
while challengers Lambert and Swartz received
4,693 votes and 4,075 votes, respectively.

Dear
Upper Arlington Community,
 This
November, I am seeking your vote for Re-Election to
the Upper Arlington City Schools Board of Education.
Since 2012, I have proudly served as a board member
for Upper Arlington Schools. There’s no greater
responsibility or honor than working to ensure the excellence
of our children’s education. I want every student
to be prepared for future success in college, career
and life.
My
husband David and I moved back to Upper Arlington 28
years ago. David, as well as our three children, graduated
from Upper Arlington Schools. As an Upper Arlington
parent and volunteer, I realized how much our community
values education and I want to pay it forward.
The
Upper Arlington School Board has had a tremendous impact
on our children’s education. With teamwork and
collaboration and months of research by a committee
of teachers, administrators, parents and the board,
the district implemented one-to-one technology from
kindergarten  to
grade twelve in 2016. In 2017 after three years of devoted
time and over 8,000 “touchpoints” with community
members, a $230 million bond issue passed to build a
new high school and renovate or rebuild all five elementary
schools plus improve the Tremont athletic fields. Immediately
upon passage of the bond levy, the Board of Education
launched a design process for the facilities involving
community, staff and students. By fall of 2021, these
new facilities will provide the space and flexibility
to accommodate our growing enrollment. These board initiatives
support the elite quality of education we expect and
value in Upper Arlington.
With
your vote on November 5, I will continue to focus on
what matters most for our students. My goals are aligned
with the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan of building our future
by building on our strengths. With continuous improvement
as our foundation, we will focus our efforts on whole
learning and the well-being of student and staff. I
will support our students to excel academically and
give our teachers the tools and resources to better
individualized instruction to meet the needs of every
student. I will continue to build on our district’s
accountability and ownership through transparent, clear,
honest, open, and interactive communication. And I will
strive to improve our District's financial sustainability
by aligning our finances and investments to the Strategic
Plan.
Please
vote for me this upcoming election and allow me to continue
my passion of serving for the future success of Upper
Arlington students, families and community.

2018 for the Your Voice Matters communications plan
on the district's facilities master planning process;
a 2019 Mark of Distinction award for theUASchools.org
website redesign; a 2018 Mark of Excellence award for
the State of the Schools video on One-to-One Technology;
and a 2017 Mark of Excellence award for the Upper Arlington
Schools Facebook page. The department has previously
received a Best of the Best award for the district Facebook
page, a Mark of Excellence award for the UAiNSIGHT community
newsletter and a Mark of Distinction award in video.
